Windstream performs ‘random acts of kindness’

Windstream’s Lifetime Tour was in Newton Wednesday performing random acts of kindness like buying diapers for a mother and paying for everyone’s lunch buffet at Pizza Hut. Tour managers Cory Dever and Jason Mitchell both said the tour is part of the company’s effort to get to know communities they serve. Windstream completed a transaction to purchase Iowa Telecom in June.
“There’s not a lot of companies around doing this,” Dever said. “The best part of my job is random acts of kindness.”
Mitchell recalled buying lunch for one man in Newton who recently had lost his job.
“We bought him lunch and he said we really helped him out,” Mitchell said.
“We’re just spreading goodwill and cheer,” Dever said. “Hopefully people will pay it forward throughout the community.”
