Newton 2010-2011 school supply lists
Berg Elementary
Transitional Kindergarten — 2 big boxes of tissues, 2 large erasers, 4 boxes of crayons (1 for each quarter), 8 glue sticks (2 for each quarter), 16 #2 wooden pencils (no plastic coated pencils), 1 small pencil box for supplies, 1 2-pocket folder, 1 oversized paint shirt (an old shirt is perfect!) and 1 regular size bath towel (no mats). Please label all items with the student’s first and last name.
Kindergarten — 1 8-by-5 plastic supply box, 2 boxes of small crayons (8 count, primary colors), 2 boxes of small crayons (24 count, no glitter or fluorescent), 1 4-ounce school glue, 8 small glue sticks, 2 large boxes of tissues, 1 loose-fitting shirt for painting, 1 backpack (no wheels), 1 regular-sized bath towel (no mats), 2 2-pocket folders with prongs, 2-pocket folders without prongs, 12 regular yellow #2 pencils (sharpened), 1 box of 2.5 gallon size baggies and a 10-ounce pump hand sanitizer (optional).
First Grade — 5 regular #2 sharpened pencils with erasers, 1 box of 24 crayons (no glitter or fluorescent), 2 boxes of tissues, 1 bookbag or small backpack (no wheels), 1 small plastic pencil box, 4 glue sticks, 1 box of 8 markers (washable, broad tip, primary colors), 1 large pink or green eraser, 3 pocket folders (with horizontal pockets), 1-inch 3-ring binder and 1 box of full-sized colored pencils. GIRLS: 1 box of Clorox Wipes. BOYS: 1 bottle of hand sanitizer. Please put name on each individual items, including pencils, crayons and markers.
Second Grade — 20 #2 pencils, 2 red checking pencils or pens, 1 large eraser, 1 package of dry erase markers, 6 2-pocket folders without fasteners (1 red, 1 blue, 1 yellow, 1 green and 2 your choice), 1 box of 24 crayons, 8 small glue sticks, 1 small plastic supply box, 2 large boxes of tissues, 1 box washable markers, 1 set of colored pencils, 1 2-inch 3-ring binder (no Trappers or binders with zippers) and 1 clipboard (optional). Please put name on each individual items, including pencils, crayons and markers.
Third Grade — 1 box of 24 crayons, 1 bottle unscented hand sanitizer, 8 count watercolor markers (classic), 1 package of red pens, 2 glue sticks, 1 box of 24 colored pencils, 1 package of pencil top erasers, 1 zipper pencil case, 1 box of tissues, 1 2-inch 3-ring binder with clear pocket front, 24 #2 pencils (sharpened, mechanical pencils optional; no plastic covered pencils), 1 package of wide-lined loose leaf notebook paper, 2 wide-lined spiral notebooks and 4 folders with pockets (1 red, 1 blue, 1 yellow and 1 green).

First Grade — 1 box of sharpened #2 pencils, 1 large eraser, 2 boxes of Kleenex, 1 box of 24 crayons, 1 sharp tip kid’s scissors, 8 glue sticks, 2 bottles of Elmer’s glue, 2 two-pocket folders, 1 small plastic supply box, 1 box of 8 to 10 broad-tip primary color markers, 1 package of pencil eraser caps, 1 box of 12 colored pencils and 1 box of Ziploc sandwich bags. GIRLS: 1 bottle of hand sanitizer. BOYS: 1 container of Clorox Wipes.
Second Grade — 24 #2 pencils with erasers, 1 200 or more count Kleenex, 24 crayons, 2 heavy duty two-pocket folders, 1 pair of child’s scissors, 1 plastic supply box, 4 large erasers, 8 glue sticks, 1 wide-lined spiral notebook, 1 1-inch 3-ring binder (no Trappers or zippers), 1 box of 8 washable primary color markers, 1 box of colored pencils, 2 dry erase markers and 1 backpack (no wheels). OPTIONAL: Ziploc baggies and hand sanitizer.
Third grade — 12 #2 pencils with erasers, 1 box of colored pencils, 1 box of 24 crayons, 2 boxes of Kleenex, 1 box of watercolor markers, 2 large glue sticks, 1 zipper pencil case (no boxes), 1 large eraser, 4 folders with 2 pockets, 1 spiral notebook, 3 packs of wide-lined notebook paper, 1 backpack (no wheels), 1 bottle of hand sanitizer (optional) and 1 package of 3-by-5 inch lined index cards. No Trappers.

Fourth Grade — 24 #2 pencils (please label), 2 glue sticks, 1 large eraser, 2 packages of wide-lined notebook paper, 4 wide-lined 70 count spiral notebooks (1 red, 1 blue, 1 green and 1 yellow), 4 pocket folders, 1 box of colored pencils or crayons or magic markers, 2 packages of 4 dry erase markers (Expo brand and low odor), 4 packages of 3-by-5 index cards 3x5 (no Post-It brand), 1 large box of Kleenex, 2 old clean socks (for dry erase board), 1- or 2-inch clear view sleeve 3-ring binder and 4 packages of Post-It notes.
Fifth Grade — 2 packages of #2 pencils with erasers, 1 package of eraser caps or 1 large pink eraser, 1 package of mechanical pencils, 1 package of pencil lead for mechanical pencils, 6 spiral wide-lined notebooks, 5 blue or black ballpoint pens, 6 pocket folders (must be 3-hole punched for use in binder), 2 large boxes of Kleenex, 1 small bottle of glue or glue sticks, 1 set of colored pencils, 1 set of markers (8 colors), 1 highlighter, 1 zippered pencil bag, 2 1/2 inch 3-ring view binder (has a clear pocket on the front); 4 packages of Post-It notes, 2 packages of 4 dry erase markers (Expo brand), 2 packages of wide-lined loose leaf paper and 5 packages of 3-by-5 lined index cards.
Sixth Grade — 2 large boxes of Kleenex, 3 packages of wide-lined notebook paper (white), 2-inch or more 3-ring binder (hard cover Trappers are OK), 1 composition notebook (the pages are sewn in, can be found at Wal-Mart), 2 packages of 5-tab notebook divider sets, 1 package of adhesive reinforcers for notebook paper, 1 package of markers (8 colors), 36 #2 pencils (can be mechanical), 5 purple pens, 10 black or blue pens, 5 red pens, 1 package of eraser heads, 1 package of colored pencils (12 colors), 2 packages of 4 dry erase markers (Expo brand), 2 large erasers, 2 glue sticks, 5 packages of 4-by-6 lined index cards, 5 packages of 3-by-5 blank index cards, 2 highlighters, 1 zipper pencil bag and 4 packages of Post-It notes.

Fifth Grade — 1 2-inch plain solid any-color binder for student portfolio, 1 Trapper (homework binder), 2 packages of 5-tab dividers, 2 packages of wide-lined loose-leaf notebook paper, 1 horizontal pocket folder, 1 package of #2 pencils, 1 small eraser or package of pencil top erasers, 1 package of red pens, 1 package of black or blue pens, 1 set of colored pencils, 2 large glue sticks, 1 four-pack package of Expo fine tip dry erase markers, 2 chisel tip Expo dry erase markers, 1 highlighter, 2 boxes of Kleenex, 1 pencil box/bag and 3 packages 3-by-5-inch lined index cards.
Sixth Grade — 1 backpack with 2 shoulder straps (no wheels), 1 Trapper; 1 2-inch binder, 16 subject dividers, 1 pencil bag (built in place in Trapper for pens and pencils or a separate bag that fits in Trapper), 2 packages of loose-leaf notebook paper, 2 spiral notebooks (70 pages and wide-ruled), 2 packages of sticky notes (3-by-3), 1 set of colored pencils, 8 #2 pencils w/erasers or 1 pack of mechanical pencils w/extra .07 lead and erasers, 2 red or blue checking pens, 4 packages of 3-by-5 lined index cards (no spiral bound notecards), 1 package of paper “hole” reinforcements; 1 small eraser or package of pencil top erasers, 2 glue sticks and 3 boxes of Kleenex.
