Late fee in effect after March 31

Pet owners are reminded that 2010 dog and cat licenses must be purchased by March 31, 2010, to avoid a late fee of $20.

Licenses are available at the Newton Police Department Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The license fee for altered pets is $15, and the fee for unaltered pets is $25. Residents need to bring proof of current rabies vaccinations.

Bike licenses also are available for $2 and are good until the bike is no longer operable.
