Parsons announces candidacy for supervisor
Jasper County Supervisor John Parsons has announced plans to seek re-election to the Board of Supervisors this fall.
“I really enjoy the responsibilities of this job,” Parsons said in making the announcement. “It’s hard to believe that I’m in my fourth year already.”
Parsons said he felt that conservative fiscal responsibility is crucial during these difficult financial times.
“During my term, the Jasper County Board of Supervisors has cut operating expenses, held the line on the budget, maintained healthy cash balances, and reduced tax levy rates,” he said. “In addition, elected officials have asked for and received no salary increases for the last two years. I’m proud of that.”
Parsons said he also is proud of the partnership between the county, city and state to bring TPI to Jasper County.
“We put 500 people back to work in an exciting new ‘green energy’ business. We’ve got the economic development ball rolling in the right direction,” he said. “I’m optimistic that as the economy improves, we will have the opportunity to put more people back to work in Jasper County.
“I assure the citizens of Jasper County that I will continue to work hard to hold the line on the county’s budget while providing the government services that you expect,” Parsons said. “I hope to have the opportunity to continue to serve the citizens of jasper County.”
