Prom Dress Drive/Giveaway scheduled for Saturday
It’s only March but it’s already prom season.
Girls wishing to donate or find a prom dress can do so at the Newton Senior High School’s first Prom Dress Drive on Saturday.
NHS teacher Kelly Tremel has organized the event to help collect and give away dresses to students in and around of Newton. The Prom Dress Drive/Giveaway will begin at 10 a.m. at the high school. During the day, girls can either donate or find a prom dress.
Although Tremel has been able to collect and distribute many dresses, she said she needs more to help as many students as she can. She also is looking for contributions of men’s formal wear, or dress shirts, pants, ties and suits to help the high school boys look great too during their prom.
To make a donation, people can contact Tremel at tremelk@newton.k12.ia.us or stop by the NHS office. All donations are accepted but Tremel stressed the need for current styles and garments in good condition.
