Three Hawks named to all-conference teams

(MCT) — Three members of the Iowa basketball team were honored in the All-Big Ten selections released Monday.

Forward Eric May was one of five players named to the all-freshman team by the coaches. Sophomores Aaron Fuller and Matt Gatens were named to the honorable mention list by the coaches.

May has started 22 of Iowa’s last 24 games, including the last 19. He averaged 9.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

Fuller was Iowa’s leading scorer and rebounder in Big Ten play, averaging 12.3 points and 7.6 rebounds in 18 conference starts. Overall, he averaged 9.7 points and a team-best 5.9 rebounds.

Gatens was the Hawkeyes’ leading scorer, averaging 12.4 points. He led the team with 122 field goals, 58 3-pointers, and 83 made free throws.
