Newton track to have ‘Go Danica’ campaign
Iowa Speedway race fans will have an opportunity to voice their support for Danica Patrick as the track kicks off its “Go Danica” campaign to encourage the iconic Izod IndyCar star to drive her “Go Daddy” Chevrolet in the track’s 250-lap NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Saturday, July 31.
Patrick’s Nationwide car owner, JR Motorsports, headed by NASCAR superstar Dale Earnhardt Jr., recently announced a tentative 2010 schedule for her to compete in 13 Nationwide Series events — a schedule that did not include a stop for the 27-year-old pop-culture phenomenon in Newton.
Fans of the central Iowa track, dubbed “America’s Place to Race,” may have some influence on the final line-up of what many are calling “Danica Mania on Tour” by voting in the special fan poll on the bottom right corner of the “IowaSpeedway.Com” homepage.
Fans may cast their votes by simply clicking on “YES, I Want Danica To Go Fast In Iowa” if they want to urge JR Motorsports to add Iowa Speedway’s Nationwide race to her 2010 schedule.
Ballots will be accepted online through April 15 or fans may e-mail their preference to go-danica@iowaspeedway.com. One vote per person counts.
