Police reminding residents about lost, found items

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

The Prairie City Police Department is reminding citizens to contact the police department if they find lost property in a public area.

An officer will respond and take the property to the department’s property room, where it will be kept for safe keeping and all reasonable attempts to contact the owner will be made. Citizens also should be aware that if they lose property they may contact the police department to determine if the property has been turned in. Common items that are turned in to the police department are glasses, wallets, keys and bicycles, although many different types of items have been turned in to police.

All property is disposed of in accordance with Iowa law if it is unclaimed after 60 days.
