Jasper County Pheasants Forever anniversary banquet set for Friday

The Jasper County Pheasants Forever will kick off its 25th anniversary with a benefit and dance on Friday at the Elks Lodge in Newton.

The event will start at 7:30 p.m. and will last until midnight. “The Menace,” a central Iowa band that specializes in music from 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s, will provide live entertainment. There will be a $5 cover charge for the event, and money raised will fund habitat projects, environmental education and conservation awareness.

There also will be a 50/50 drawing to support a Pheasants Forever scholarship for local seniors planning to major in wildlife management, forestry, environmental education, agronomy or environmental science.
