• Jordan M. DeGoey, 20, of Newton was charged with driving while license suspended after authorities stopped him at 2:15 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of First Avenue West for having an expired license plate and determined he did not have a valid driver’s license. DeGoey also was cited for operation without registration and was released on his own recognizance.

• Merrilee S. George, 57, of Newton was arrested and charged with simple domestic assault after authorities responded to a complaint of a domestic disturbance at 5:19 p.m. Sunday at a residence in the 500 block of West Third Street South in Newton. George was charged for allegedly assaulting an 89-year-old Newton female and was transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• Amber L. Kaesey, 27, of Des Moines was arrested at 3:33 p.m. Sunday on a Warren County warrant for failure to appear in court for a traffic offense after a vehicle in which she was a passenger was stopped at the 164 mile marker on Interstate 80 for a traffic offense. Kaesey was turned over to Warren County authorities.

• Stephanie L. Murray, 27, of Newton was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated after authorities stopped her at 1:14 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of West Fourth Street North and North Second Avenue West for driving without the use of headlights. Murray failed sobriety tests, was charged for allegedly driving while intoxicated and released on her own recognizance.

• Joseph L. Richards, 22, of Newton was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated after authorities responded to a complaint at 7:57 a.m. Saturday of a truck stuck in the snow in the 300 block of South Third Avenue East. Police found the driver, identified as Richards, sleeping in the vehicle. He failed sobriety tests, was charged for allegedly driving while intoxicated and transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• Amber D. Rogers, 23, of Newton was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief after authorities responded to a complaint of a fight at 1:53 p.m. Saturday in the front yard of a residence at 823 E. 10th St. S. in Newton. Rogers was charged for allegedly using a brick to smash the windshield of a Newton woman’s vehicle, causing an estimated $300 damage. She was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
