Jasper County students serve as tutors
PELLA — Several Jasper County natives served as tutors during the fall semester at Central College.
The Center for Academic Excellence provides a free peer-tutoring service to students who want to increase their skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening or studying and for those who want help with specific courses. Trained student tutors help large numbers of students each semester, many on a drop-in basis and others by appointment.
Newton students who served as tutors were Kelilah Brown, junior, music education major, graduate of Newton Senior High School, music tutor; Jessie Curry, junior, psychology major, graduate of Newton Senior High School, writing tutor; Adam Livengood, senior, psychology major, graduate of Lynnville-Sully High School, writing, psychology, philosophy tutor; and Nicole Ferguson, sophomore, cultural anthropology major, graduate of Baxter High School, writing, anthropology tutor.
