Newton Community School District Board of Education

Agenda items include a report on the high school by NHS Principal Bill Peters; a review of the high school improvement plan; the superintendent’s report by Steve McDermott, including updates on the director of business services hiring and transition, the school resource officer, the 2010-2011 school calendar, parental involvement, Web site review and a review of the district’s long-term vision, mission, core values and general areas of focus; approval of course changes for the 2010-2011 school year; discussion of the voluntary preschool grant status and upcoming elementary math materials adoption process; appointment of a board subcommittee to continue the Elementary Boundary and Alignment Study; approval of goals for the district and the superintendent; approval of the 2010-2011 at-risk budget; approval of the FY09 negative special education balance request for modified allowable growth and supplemental aid; and the business and human resources reports.

Jasper County Board of Supervisors

Agenda items include a resolution amending the Baxter Urban Renewal Area to add additional property and giving consent to the city to exercise urban renewal powers, approval of plans for Highway F62 and detour agreements for Highway 330 J-turns, employee hiring resolutions and the proposed hiring resolution for the director of buildings and grounds, GIS coordinator position and a resolution approving an agreement between Central Iowa Energy LLC and Reg Newton LLC and a subordination agreement by and between Jasper County and Agstar Financial Services PCA.
