The St. Nick’s Christmas Club is once again organizing to ensure hundreds of Jasper County children have presents and food this holiday season.

Nearly 200 families have requested help from St. Nick’s with more applications for assistance being turned in every day. Children younger than 18 are available for adoption by visiting the Newton Daily News, 200 First Ave. E., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Club organizers ask that each child receives new clothing, including a pair of pants, a shirt, socks and underwear, along with a toy for Christmas.

A wish list for each child is available upon adoption.
St. Nick’s also provides food to each family to sustain them over the long holiday break.

To help fund the club’s efforts, a 42-inch Samsung 1080P flat screen TV will be raffled off. Also being raffled is a Play Station 3 and Guitar Hero game. Tickets for each of the prize packages are $5 each or $20 for five and can be purchased from St. Nick’s members. The prizes will be drawn for on Dec. 17.

Those wishing to make a donation to St. Nicks can do so by mailing their contribution to P.O. Box 162, Newton, Iowa 50208.
