DeCook thanks those who voted

To the Editor,

I want to thank everyone that voted for me in the Skiff Medical Center Board of Trustees election.

I would also like to congratulate Lois Vogel and Dr. Gary Richardson on being elected. I think they will do a fine job of representing the citizens of Newton.

Skiff is an extremely valuable asset for Newton and the surrounding communities. It is time to put aside the differences and criticism of the past and for the board to move forward with returning Skiff to again be one of the premier medical centers in Iowa.

It appears that there was agreement of all the trustees, including the newly elected ones in the choice of a new CEO. That is a sign to me that the healing has begun.

I also want to thank Gary Kahn and John Lee for their many years of service to Skiff and our community. I truly believe they always acted in what they felt was in the best interest of Skiff, the doctors and employees, and most important the patients who used Skiff.
