Two L-S football players earn second team honors
SULLY — Two Lynnville-Sully juniors earned Class A District 7 football honors when the all-district teams were announced.
Defensive end David Samson and linebacker Jesse Thompson were named to the second team defense, while two others were named honorable mention.
Thompson led the Hawks with 68 tackles this season, including three tackles for a loss. Samson had 63 tackles for the season, including being tied for a team-leading nine tackles for a loss.
For honorable mention selections, seniors Bryce Doane and Ryan Van Kooten were tabbed for those honors.
Doane had 41 tackles and two interceptions on defense, while averaging more than 12 yards per catch on offense. Van Kooten was second for the Hawks with 67 tackles and eight tackles for a loss.
Eight Lynnville-Sully players also were named academic all-district — Caleb Hoeksema, Taylor Van De Krol, Corey Harthoorn, Nathan Russell, Cale Van Wyk, Doane, Samson and Van Kooten.
