Marlys Lee

Marlys (Poortinga) Lee, 61, of Glendale, Ariz., died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, after years of suffering, first from cancer, then from effects of damage done by radiation treatments.

The daughter of Oakley and Doris Poortinga, she was born July 16, 1948, and grew up in the Reasnor area and graduated from Monroe High School with the class of 1966.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Sun Country Corvette Club and Sonoran Desert Region Cadillac Club.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband, Fred Lee; a son, Scott Nuese; stepson, Larry Lee, and his daughter, Nina; as well as her beloved dogs, Charlie, Little Bit and Sally Sue.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Terry Nuese, in 1996.

Memorials are being designated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
