• Jerry E. Bird Jr., 31, of Newton was charged with filing a false report to a police officer following an investigation of an incident reported at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 22. Bird reported to authorities that his vehicle had been stolen, and the vehicle was later found stuck in a grassey area between Walnut Creek and Forest View apartment buildings. Authorities found two full cans of beer in the vehicle, which was towed from the scene. Bird initially told authorities the beer was not his and that the vehicle had been taken around midnight on Oct. 22, but after further questioning he admitted to having too much to drink, driving to Kum & Go to purchase the beer and then getting the truck stuck near the apartment buildings, according to police reports. Bird was charged for filing a false report and released on his own recognizance.

• Jephtaah D. Burton, 19, of Newton was charged Thursday with driving while license suspended after authorities stopped him at 11:27 p.m. in the 1000 block of South Third Avenue East and determined his license was suspended. Burton also was cited with operation without registration and was released.

• Tarah R. Rodenborn, 21, of Newton was cited Tuesday with following too closely and failure to have insurance after traveling east at 6:07 p.m. in the 900 block of First Avenue East and striking the rear of a vehicle ahead of her driven by Laura A. Markham, 29, of Newton, who had slowed for traffic in front of her. No one was injured. Damage was estimated at $800 to Markham’s vehicle and $100 to Rodenborn’s vehicle.

• April A. Wilcox, 30, of Newton was charged with child endangerment and providing alcohol to person under the legal age following an investigation by authorities into an incident that occurred at 12:58 a.m. Oct. 3 at 124 E. Fourth St. N. #4. Wilcox was charged for allegedly buying her 13-year-old son and his friend a case of beer before leaving the residence to go to a bar. While she was gone, two females came to the residence, and a sex act allegedly occurred between one of the males and one of the females, according to police reports. Wilcox was charged in connection with the incident on Oct. 27 and released on her own recognizance.
