To the Editor:

The annual meeting of Newton’s sister city group, O.P.E.N., will be on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 308 E. Second St. N. Highlights of the past year’s activities will be featured, and Sen. Dennis Black will share information about his recent trip to Taiwan.  In addition, a display will feature details of a very special activity that O.P.E.N. will launch soon. It is a multi-faceted project and is very exciting. We are looking forward to sharing the details will you.

We continue to strive to meet the goals of our mission statement which states: “Strengthening the global outreach of Newton and Jasper County in ways that increase peace and understanding, promote democracy and citizen participation, and recognize mutual benefits of education, culture, agriculture, business and trade.” We appreciate the support of all of our past and future contributors. Please join us for refreshments at our 2009 annual meeting. We are looking forward to greeting you.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of O.P.E.N.,

Jane Ann Cotton, Chair
