Cyclones start season ranked 24th in nation
AME (ISU — The Iowa State women’s basketball team is ranked 24th in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ preseason poll, which was released Wednesday.
ISU was one of five teams in the Big 12 to rank in the preseason top 25.
Other league teams in the coaches’ preseason rankings include: Baylor (4), Oklahoma (8), Texas (14), and Texas A&M (16).
The Cyclones also received votes in the Associated Press preseason Top 25. Four Big 12 squads were voted into the AP Top 25.
Iowa State is coming off one of its best seasons in school history, finishing 27-9 overall and making a trip to the NCAA’s Elite Eight but return just two starters from that squad this year.
ISU will conclude its exhibition slate on Sunday against Minnesota, Crookston, at 2 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum. The regular season will open Nov. 15 vs. Florida Atlantic.
