Balloon animal class scheduled for Tuesday

Balloon Animal and

Sculpture Class

Kids! Join Magician Rick Brammer for a class in creating balloon animals and sculptures on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 6:30 p.m.

The class is for children ages 8 and up and will be in the library meeting room. Class size limited to 20. Contact Youth Services Librarian Phyllis Peter to preregister for the class at (641) 792-4108.

Story Times

for Preschool Children

Enjoy “Three” stories with Youth Services Librarian Phyllis Peter in the Carousel Horse Room for story time on Thursday Nov. 12, at 10:30 a.m. Toddlers and Twos story time is for children 18 months to 36 months old and meets each Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. in the Carousel Horse Room. All story times meet weekly, except on holidays, and are free and open to all children and their caregivers.

Veterans Day Closing

The library will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day

Library Arts Display

New paintings by Mary Homeier will be on display during the month of November at the Newton Public Library. This display is sponsored by the Arts Connection, Inc. and is free to the public.

“My Friend Jade”

Evening Story Time

Youth Services Librarian Phyllis Peter will host a special evening story time with Newton author Jennifer Springer for children aged 3-10 on Monday, Nov. 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room.

Springer will read her book, “My Friend Jade,” illustrated by Newton resident Nancy Annee, tells the story of a friendship between a young girl and Jade, who has Down’s Syndrome. Books will be available for purchase or you may bring your copy for the author to sign.

HungryTown Folk Duo

In Concert

The Vermont singer/songwriter duo of Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson will perform at the Newton Public Library on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the library meeting room. The close harmony and traditional folk sound will please listeners of all ages.

This concert is made possible by a grant from Newton Public Library Foundation and the Arts Connection, Inc.

Library programs are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Newton Public Library.
