Basketball assignments announced by IAHSAA
On Thursday, the Iowa High School Athletic Association announced boys basketball postseason assignments.
Newton will the in the same Class 4A substate as Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Marshalltown, Waterloo East and Waterloo West. The substate final is March 2, 2010, at a to be determined location.
In Class 2A, Collins-Maxwell-Baxter, Colfax-Mingo and PCM will all compete in the same district. Those three schools are joined by Des Moines Christian, Earlham, Interstate 35, Panorama and Van Meter.
The district final will be Feb. 23, 2010, at Adel, while the substate final will be Feb. 27, 2010 at Johnston. The teams from the other district are East Marshall, Gilbert, North Polk, Ogden, Roland-Story, South Hamilton, West Marshall and Woodward Academy.
In Class 1A, Lynnville-Sully will compete against English Valleys, GMG, HLV, Keota, Meskwaki Settlement School, Montezuma, North Mahaska and Tri-County for a district title.
The district final will be Feb. 25, 2010 at Meskwaki, while the substate final will be Feb. 27, 2010 at Fairfield. Teams from the other district for substate play at Harmony, Holy Trinity, Iowa Mennonite, Maharishi (Fairfield), Moravia, Moulton-Udell, New London, Notre Dame (Burlington) and WACO.
