Black honored for supporting hospitals

DES MOINES — Dennis Black has been named the Iowa Hospital Association Legislator of the Year in the Iowa Senate.
“Throughout his long and honorable career in the Iowa House and Senate, Senator Black has advocated for quality health care and hospitals in Iowa,” IHA President Kirk Norris said. “He has shown true leadership, particularly in his efforts to support Iowa’s public hospitals and his ongoing support of adequate Medicaid payment for hospitals.”
Black (pictured on the left receiving his award), is serving his fourth term in the Senate, received the award on Oct. 6 at the IHA Annual Meeting in Des Moines. He was joined by Lisa Heddens of Ames, who was named the IHA Legislator of the Year for the Iowa House of Representatives.
The Iowa Hospital Association is a voluntary membership organization representing hospital and health system interests to business, government and consumer audiences. All of Iowa’s 117 community hospitals are IHA members.
