More local state fair winners announced

Additional contest results from the 2009 Iowa State Fair have been released, and results for Jasper County winners are as follows:

• Tim Dee of Baxter placed 12th in the Yorkshire gilts category of the Iowa State Fair Yorkshire swine show.

• Warrick Brothers placed third and John Warrick of Prairie City placed fourth in the Duroc boars category in the Duroc Swine Show Aug. 20 at the Iowa State Fair. Warrick Brothers also took Reserve Champion gilt honors in the Hampshire Swine Show, Aug. 14 at the State Fair. They took a first place and a sixth place award in the Hampshire gilt category and a third place in the Hampshire boar category.

• Nolin Red Angus of Monroe took Reserve Champion Fall Heifer Calf and first place in the Senior Heifer Calves, Sept. 1-)ct. 31, 2008 category, and eighth place in the January Heifer Calves Jan. 1-31, 2009 category at the Red Angus Show at the Iowa State Fair. Nolin Red Angus also placed second in Feb. bull calves, Feb. 1-28, 2009 category, second place in Senior Get of Sire category, fourth place in the Junior Get of Sire category.

• Moffitt Angus of Colfax took Reserve Champion Junior Heifer Calf at the Iowa State Fair Angus Cattle Show Aug. 18.
