Bondurant-Farrar advances to Class 2A semifinals
FORT DODGE — Heart of Iowa Conference school Bondurant-Farrar advanced to the Class 2A semifinals after a 1-0 victory over Belmond-Klemme Monday at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex.
Dacia Miller had an RBI double in the sixth inning, and that was enough for Bondurant-Farrar.
Miller also allowed four hits in the circle, walked one and struck out 12 in the win.
The Bluejays (34-3) get Emmetsburg in the semifinals Thursday night. The other semifinal features Iowa City Regina (23-11) and BCLUW (34-4).
Emmetsburg won 1-0 over Riverside, BCLUW edged Wilton by a 2-1 score and Iowa City Regina rolled past Okoboji, 11-2.
In Class 1A, Earlham upset top-ranked Woodbury Central by a 1-0 score in eight innings. Freshman Amy Wright drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to gain the win.
Earlham (31-9) gets Akron-Westfield (28-7) on Thursday in the semifinals, while Martensdale-St. Marys (34-7) takes on Newell-Fonda (35-4).
Akron-Westfield won 10-2 over Southeast Warren, Martensdale-St. Marys took down North Butler by a 2-1 score in nine innings and Newell-Fonda disposed of North Mahaska by a 10-3 score.
Today, Class 3A and 4A quarterfinals start on two diamonds in Fort Dodge. The consolation round begins today for Class 1A and 2A this morning.
