Aurora Heights students spruce up social skills

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

The Aurora Heights fourth graders have been working hard to spruce up their social etiquette and manners this spring.

They have been taking a class called, Manners Matter taught by their guidance counselor, Jeanne Birkenholz and classroom teachers, Michelle Modlin (top photo, right) and Susan Sheeks (bottom photo, left).

The students have learned to greet and introduce others, how to have a conversation with someone, how to set a formal table as well as how to use the utensils and table service correctly (bottom photo, right) and acceptable table manners.

The students went to the Sisters of the Heart Tea Room in Prairie City to try out their new found manners. They enjoyed a beautiful setting full of conversation and a four course meal which included baked potato soup, garden fresh salad, chicken breast topped with ham and Swiss cheese on a bed of rice with vegetables, rolls and desserts.
