Raider girls beat W-G, lose to South Hamilton

Behind 20 points, six rebounds and five steals from senior Julia Robinson and nine points, 11 rebounds and two steals from senior Jordan Maher, the Collins-Maxwell-Baxter girls basketball team scored a victory in its season opener last week, downing Woodward-Granger on the road, 56-47. The game was tied after one quarter, and CMB actually trailed at halftime before outscoring the Lady Hawks, 16-6, in the third quarter. Robinson was 9-of-14 from the floor and also had three assists. Maher hit 5-of-6 from the line, while fellow senior Mackenzie Petermeier scored 12 points and had five rebounds. The Raiders couldn’t get a win Tuesday in their second game of the season as 31 turnovers led to a 70-36 loss against South Hamilton. Maher had 17 points, six steals, five rebounds and two assists in the loss, while Robinson had nine points and seven boards. CMB shot under 40 percent from the field in the game, hit just 4-of-14 from the foul line and got out-rebounded 37-23. The Raiders will play in their home opener on Tuesday against conference rival Ogden in Baxter.
