Newton Community Theatre unveils redesigned Web site
Special to the Daily News The curtains have opened on a new endeavor at Newton Community Theatre: a completely remodeled Web site. The new site, www.newtontheatre.com, went live on Wednesday and, in addition to a sleek new look, provides up-to-date information on auditions, productions and latest news at the theater. Archives about past shows and the ability to reserve tickets online will be coming soon. Board member Stephanie Alexander worked on the redesign. “When my family first moved to Newton in 2006, I knew I would eventually want to get involved with the theatre, so I looked them up online,” she said. “I was impressed at the amazing variety of shows they had produced over the years, but when I went to look for photos, cast lists, that sort of thing, it wasn’t there. And it wasn’t as timely as it could be. We needed to transform the site into a go-to source of information for anyone interested in NCT.” Alexanders said the timing of the new site is a great one, as the theater has several projects under way, including the annual sale of fresh Iowa-grown Christmas wreaths, promotion of the 2009 season and the theater’s grand-scale Christmas production of “Scrooge – the Musical,” with a cast of about 70 performers. Visitors to the site will be able to view performance and audition dates, download forms to order season tickets and access contact information if they have any questions or suggestions. Community members also will be able to sign up for e-mail updates. “So much work goes into everything that NCT and its participants do,” Alexander said. “And having a vibrant, frequently updated site helps to support all that effort.” To learn more, visit www.newtontheatre.com or e-mail newtontheatre@iowatelecom.net.
