SHIIP to offer Medicare plan info to Maytagers

Special to Daily News Maytag UAW retirees facing a change in their health coverage can get help comparing Medicare drug plans at three events in Newton. SHIIP, the Senior Health Insurance Information Program, is holding three Part D comparison events on Oct. 22 and 28 and Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The events will be held at the UAW Hall at 1813 First Street North. Appointments are required and can be made by calling SHIIP at (800) 351-4664 or for TTY (800) 735-2942. The comparison events are free. Retirees waiting to make a decision about their health coverage do not need to wait to research Medicare drug plans. Plans will be compared at the upcoming events. No enrollments will be done. Participants will leave with information they can review at home. Retirees can then enroll in a plan if they choose between Nov. 15 and Dec. 31.
